Walk the Mining Road
Walk the Mining Road with Us!
At roughly 15 per cent of the mining workforce, women are underrepresented and underutilised in mining.
Given recent and current skills shortages and the cost of skilled labour, there is a compelling business case to widen the industry’s talent pool to include more women.
As such, the industry, via the Minerals Council of Australia, is pioneering moves to attract, recruit, retain and promote more women.
The ‘Walk the Mining Road’ video is one such initiative. It profiles women who are having a big impact on the industry, from university to the boardroom, and demonstrates to school and university students the many opportunities available for women in mining.
The MCA thanks BHP Billiton and Ines Scotland, as well as Downer Mining and the participants, for their assistance in the making of the video.
